IPL 11 is just days away. A brand new season, new players, new signings and better and bigger entertainment than previous seasons is on its way. It is IPL V2.0, looking at the players shuffled in the teams and with a new form of auction held. Here is my list of top 5 players to watch out for in IPL 2018.

5. Heinrich Klassen
Team- Rajasthan Royals

Role- Batsman/Wicket-keeper

This player came in as a replacement for Quinton De Kock against India in the ODI’s and the T20I’s. The promise he showed with the bat and the gloves was something above expectations. With Steve Smith out of the Rajasthan Royals squad, they had to announce a replacement, and looking Klassen’s recent form against India, Rajasthan Royals picked him as Smith’s replacement. The variety of strokes he plays and the power he generates is one to look for. He is surely a player to watch out for if he gets a place in the 4 playing foreign players.

4. D’Arcy Short

Team- Rajasthan Royals

Role- Opening batsman

D’Arcy Short made a name for himself in the Big Bash League during the Australian summer. He became the 2nd player after Shaun Marsh to score 400 runs in a season. His 122(69)* became the highest individual BBL score of all time. This wasn’t going down the selectors’ eyes as he was selected for the T20I tri series between Australia, New Zealand and England. He didn’t disappoint them especially when he scored 76 in a 243 run chase in 20 overs. After such heroics, he was drafted into the Auction list of IPL where Rajasthan Royals bought him. It will be exciting to see how Short blazes IPL. Can he?

3. Shubman Gill

Team- Kolkata Knight Riders

Role- Batsman

Regarded as the next Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill set the stage on fire in the U-19 World Cup. Scoring 372 runs in 5 innings at an average of 112, Shubman’s run of form couldn’t have gone unnoticed. KKR bought him for 1.8 crore and it is always good to invest in a youngster as a club. Look at Virat Kohli, bought by RCB in 2008, continues to play and now leads the side. Shubman Gill is one for the future for KKR as well as India. Hopefully, we’ll get to see him in the playing XI more often this season. He is definitely a player you might not miss on

2. Yuvraj Singh

Team- Kings XI Punjab

Role- All rounder

Yuvraj Singh will be making his comeback to competitive cricket after a long time. He was in an out of the Indian Cricket Team in 2016-17 but again has lost his way and his place in the Indian team. Fitness issues, form issues are some he has had to face post World Cup 2011. However, IPL owners still show faith in him, because they know what Yuvraj Singh is capable of. It’s a perfect opportunity for Yuvraj Singh to get back in form and show the World that he’s still hungry for more. With the competition to get back in the Indian team is getting tougher and tougher, IPL is a platform Yuvraj Singh can use to showcase his skills once again, and that is the reason he’s one of the players to watch out for.

1. Prithwi Shaw
Team- Delhi Daredevils

Role- Opening batsman

The U-19 winning captain and one of the important members in Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy team, Prithwi Shaw is surely the most anticipated player to watch out for. Breaking records is as easy as drinking a cup of tea for young Shaw. IPL is a place with fierce competition and Shaw’s talent will be gazed on worldwide. Forget the numbers when it comes to Shaw, because his technique, his mind-set looks so focused that it is unbelievable for a boy of his age. Let’s see what IPL has in store for him
